
Thomas E. Kent Thomas E. Kent – has represented employers and insurance companies in litigated Michigan workers’ compensation matters for over 20 years. His practice is limited strictly to the defense of workers’ compensation claims. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree (chemistry & physics) from Michigan State University, completed coursework in an MBA program at Wayne State University, and attained a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Detroit.
He has worked as a seventh grade science teacher, probation officer for the City of Detroit, systems manager for the U.S. Army and was elected Prosecuting Attorney for Crawford County, Michigan.
Tom accepted a shareholder interest in Bleakley, Cypher, Parent, Warren & Quinn in April 1999. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (workers’ compensation section), Association of Trial Lawyers of America, National Association of Defense Lawyers, and the Michigan Self-Insurers’ Association.
Tom has been a guest speaker at the request of numerous organizations, including the National Business Institute, State of Michigan Chamber of Commerce and Michigan Risk Management and Safety Council. He has served on the Capital Campaign Cabinet of the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Capital Campaign Cabinet of Gilda’s Club and as Executive Financial Officer of the Gerald R. Rod Council of Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout).
Recreational activities include both water and snow skiing, mountain biking, sailing, golfing and reading.
